Maia Kessler
Landscape Architect Apprentice
Maia is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture. Throughout her schooling she maintained a specific focus in horticulture, eventually leading her to take the role of horticulture intern at the Washington National Cathedral. The time spent maintaining the gardens and grounds shifted her perspective from the drafting table to the physical environment, ultimately informing her design process to create practical, effective and creative planting designs.
Maia’s interests primarily lie in the convergence of people and the environment, believing that design should function as a connection between the ecology of the surroundings as well as the ecology of the community. She is passionate about the inclusion of biophilic design and encouraging the love of nature through immersive experiences.
Outside the office, Maia enjoys painting impressionistic landscapes and hiking with friends & family.
